About the brandThe journey that led to Bukamina began in 2012, fuelled by Jacqui's passion for creating elegant, timeless wardrobe pieces that capture the essence of sunny South Africa. Bukamina means 'look at me' in Zulu, and embodies the confidence her clothing inspires, and the captivating Mzansi culture it celebrates.
Initially crafted in Jacqui’s Durban home, these inspired designs quickly gained a strong following, finding a happy audience at the Shongweni Farmers Market. Today, under the stewardship of her brother Tane, Bukamina flourishes with the support of a dedicated team who share their love for fashion with a conscience.
Each piece is still lovingly designed and manufactured in Durban, reflecting their commitment to supporting local craftsmanship. These collections feature dresses, tops, pants, jumpsuits, jackets, and knitwear that come alive in unique, locally printed designs.
The beauty of these garments also goes beyond the surface. Bukamina is deeply committed to sustainability and ethical production, ensuring every item is crafted with care for both people and the planet. Be a part of a story as unique and inspiring as the women who wear it with Bukamina.
